Senior Civil/Structural Engineer

Position Overview:

Cobalt Engineering & Inspections is currently seeking a Civil/Structural engineer to provide design solutions for our clients within the commercial and residential industries. You must exhibit a professional attitude, innovative ideas, analytical problem solving and a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.  In this role, you will be responsible for planning, technical execution and progress reporting on assigned civil and/or structural projects.  Your work may also include conceptual studies, design calculations & checking construction drawings, and preparing projects specifications.  You will have the opportunity to advance your career as much as you are willing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capable to lead a civil/structural project team
  • Perform conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and construction documents
  • Provide design for civil and structural components necessary for the development of a project
  • Responsible for technical execution of major design projects
  • Perform structural steel calculations for commercial and residential projects
  • Perform reinforced concrete calculations for building slabs, spread footings, retaining walls etc.
  • Structural engineer shall have ability of understanding, interpreting and correctly applying national codes and standards such as IRC, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC
  • Prepare estimates and proposals


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • 5 plus years of experience residential and commercial engineering
  • Industrial experience is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of design codes such as IRC, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC
  • PE in Texas is a plus
  • Should be proficient in using analytical software and have experience using AutoCAD & Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills and interface skills with clients and project team members
  • Ability to multi-task, and a willingness to quickly change work assignments
  • Willing to work extra hours as needed.
